A funny story, French Chateau sends two winemakers (a couple in fact) to look into opening a winery in California, only to have them decide to stay themselves to pursue their own project.

At first things went GREAT. 200 acres on Mt Veeder led to over 20,000 cases of wine produced every year.  Paso Robles offered another 10,000+ cases of wine from a company owned estate vineyard there.

Eventually the wines stopped delivering it is said, although the purchase by Kendall-Jackson is typically a huge positive for a winemaker, so I wouldn’t make that assumption.

They don’t fit in our wine club program, but as part of an interesting history oriented gift basket, maybe!
