It would take, books not a small few hundred word webpage, to explain the history of Charles Krug.  Here’s the back story, or at least a hugely abriged version: Krug was the family winery of Robert Mondavi when he was a kid and his job, before family struggles, sent him looking for his own project.

Mondavi of course became the leader in the Napa Valley for everything from quality, to it’s eventual transition to public ownership.

Krug’s not a winery we can feature in our wine clubs, still being called America’s best wine clubs by Forbes Magazine, simply because the winery is too well known.  There was a time when the quality of Krug was being called into question, however that’s not an argument that should be being made in 2015.  Wine critics scores have consistently sat in the upper 80 point range at least and have stretched well into the mid 90 point range for their high end Cabernet’s.
