I’ve been about the biggest supporter of Atlas Peak, the AVA as well as a number of wineries that exist far up the mountain from the valley floor. We’ve talked about Dos Lagos, Vinroc and others on Atlas Peak and I’ll repeat here: this is the next thing in Napa Valley wine.
In many ways Atlas Peak Vineyards started it all. At about 500 acres in plantings, it’s in my estimation the 3rd largest grower on the mountain behind Krupp Brothers and their quite famous Stagecoach Vineyard and Antica which produces about 15,000 cases from their own vineyard.
At about $65, the Atlas Peak version of their Cabernet Sauvignon would fit in either of our red wine clubs, however the corporate ownership, of which they are on their 5th or 6th congolmerate, means that they aren’t a fit for what we’re trying to do at Uncorked Ventures, even if the wine is good.
