Araujo might be hard to say and hard to spell, but it’s a household name in high end wine cirlces for good reason. Purchased in 1990 by San Francisco businessman Bart Araujo, the vineyard was known as the source for Joseph Phelps and that winery’s Eisele Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon.
Look, this is unadulterated old school Napa Valley, big, lush, extracted and extremely well liked. Heck, there’s generally a few year waiting list to be able to buy wine directly from Araujo. Of interest to me, outstide of the 4-5 high quality wines is their Grappa, one of the few versions made anywhere in Napa Valley. As you might expect, if someone were making a dessert gift basket in the future, the Grappa might be a nice fit right?
