Opened by Ken & Teresa Bernards opened Ancien after spending a considerable amount of time in the wine industry, Ancien represents their search for Burgundy in California.  That search has brought vineyard choices in Carneros as well as the acclaimed Fiddlestix vineyard on the California Central Coast.

The most interesting wine in their portfolio though is their Sonoma Mountain Pinot Noir.  In California (and really in America in general) we think of Pinot Noir as a grape which should grow close to the ocean, at sea level….ok maybe we’ll take a thousand feet or so of elevation.  Most other parts of the world search for as much altitude as possible, including a Chilean vineyard that’s over 10,000 feet above sea level.

For our purposes, an Ancien Pinot Noir would certainly work well in our gift basket program!
