Owner Michael Cosentino was a wine wholesaler, who started by making some wine in the corner of a warehouse….that’s something I can appreciate.

He got an earlier start though to be sure, he started Cosentino Winery back in 1980.

I haven’t yet had the chance to taste through a huge number of wines from Cosentino, but I do have some notes from a few years ago that I thought their Napa Valley Chardonnay was underpriced by $10 or so.  They price their Chardonnay at $27, which is probably closer to $15 per bottle cheaper than many of their neighbors and competitors at this point.

Cosentino always seems to have a way of continuing to reincvent itself over time.  While the owner got his start outside of Lodi (and there are certainly some Lodi wines being made to this day) they now source grapes from newer regions like Anderson Valley.

Good for them and Cosentino is a name that we’ll be watching for possibly inclusion in an upcoming wine club shipment.
