Comptche Ridge Vineyards is one of the newer entrants into the Anderson Valley wine game, highlighted by about 50 cases of production from their estate owned vineyard that is largely cut out of Redwood forest.
I talked about Comptche Ridge and how the winery fits into what I believe to be the future of Pinot Noir, but it’s a cooler climate version of the grape than even many of the already cold parts of the Anderson Valley happen to be. As you might expect, Redwood trees keep the temperature down quite a bit.
Lastly, both of our higher end wine clubs that are red wine only, have shipped the Comptche Ridge Vineyards Pinot over the past year. It’s an impressive wine and one we think that we’re likely to return to in the future.
