One of my favorite parts of Napa Valley, is a good family story.  The Chase history dates to the late 1800’s when Sarah Esther Chase Bourn purchased a St. Helena ranch. Her son built a winery, sold to Christian Brothers (at that point, one of the largest names in the Valley) and the site eventually became the Culinary Institute of America. CIA as it’s referred to, or Greystone by others, casts an imposing figure on Highway 29 as you meander into the upper valley.

Brown’s great grandson Andew Simpson brought the family back into the wine business a bit over a decade ago and has chosen to focus on Zinfandel.  For a family with a couple of generations of history in Napa, focusing on Zinfandel seems to make some sense given that grape’s huge and lengthy history in California.

Chase offers the kinds of wines that we’d happily feature in any of our high quality wine clubs, all called 90 point quality by reviews across the web.
