Sitting at 2,000 feet above the valley floor on Spring Mountain, back in 1980 that was considered perhaps too high to make high quality wine.
Only three wines are produced, all are Bordeaux styled blends and all of which are fairly priced for the quality. One thing that merits a mention I believe in this space, Cain Vineyards & Winery focused about half of their production on their cheapest Cuvee, the Cain Cuvee. That’s a setup I like quite a bit and have talked about in terms of R2 Wine Company as well as others.
Cain Five, their highest end bottling has quite a following, based partially on the high quality, but also based on the fact that the winery was perhaps the first in California to produce a wine with all 5 Bordeaux varietals blended, all coming from estate fruit.
Cain Five, as well as the Cuvee would be a nice fit in any of our online wine clubs based on their nice combination of price and quality.
