Puget Sound AVA
Puget Sound isn’t quite as dark and damp as many expect as average rainfall continues to lessen as you move further and further south of Seattle, but this is still a relatively cool weather growing region, perhaps more similar to what you find in Oregon than the rest of the state of Washington. Of course, every other AVA within Washington falls within the wider Columbia Valley AVA so this makes some sense.
Puget Sound, as you might expect is focused on producing Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, as is the case with most cooler weather west coast viticulture areas. There is also starting to be a group of growers working to crafting a newer and updated wine from Alvarinho which is barely grown in the new world.
