The Spanish name for the Mourvedre grape, this has gained wide acceptance over the past few years in Spain and now is the third most planted grape in the country. The grape continues to craft the same type of wine in Spain as well as other parts of the world with high alcohol, deep red colors and potential to create both ageworthy and outstanding bleneded wines. Perhaps best known as the ideal way to add structure in Grenache-Syrah-Mouvedre blends, many winemakers think this grape can be much more.
