Mouvedre

Mouvedre is one of those grapes, much like Cabernet Franc that almost every wine drinker in the world has tried, but hardly any have drank a bottle of a single varietal Mouvedre wine.

There are good reasons for both of those facts. Mouvedre is an incredibly complex, deep, dark, tannic wine which adds the tannins and complexity to Grenache-Syrah-Mouvedre blends which have made the Rhone region of France so famous as well as Paso Robles and parts of California.

It hardly ever shows up as a single varietal wine, it's tannic and almost gritty, but it adds structure to some of our favorite blends and generally speaking makes Grenache a lot more interesting.
