Liatiko is a red wine grape, largely grown on the Greek island of Crete.  Not widely known today, the wine and the grape were fashionable in the Middle Ages when Venetian traders (at the height of their power and prestige I might add) exported the wine far beyong the Mideterrean Sea.  Liatiko is traditionally high in alcohol and also sweet.  It's exactly the type of wine which might be perfect for today's college crowd.
