Aspiran Noir

Aspiran Noir is a French wine grape, planted largely in the up and coming Languedoc. Light bodied, highly perfumed, Aspiran hasn’t found a home outside of the Languedoc yet and might be extinct within it, if not for French wine laws supporting the grape by forcing its planting as a percentage of larger vineyards. Unfortunately, Aspiran is especially at risk from frosts and a series of colder winters in the mid 1950’s almost drove the grape into extinction, leaving at the time only 7 acres of healthy plantings remaining.
